This battle caused 29,360 dead British people, including 375 pilots;
that’s why we can say that the civilians were very often killed by German attacks. There
were twice more many wounded. Great Britain also lost 930 planes during the
battle. Lots of big cities, such as Coventry (totally destroyed) and London
were bombed.
On the other hand, the Germans lost 1623 planes, with their crews, and their
biggest cities were destroyed during reprisals.
The united Kingdom was the first nation that stopped the German army.
Although the air battle continued over Britain during the winter, the blitz was
not so intense and difficult as it had been. There was no official stop to the
battle of Britain. Bo th sides had less and less forces. For the people who
lived at that time, the end of the war was not near. They had to wait for five
years in which there would be a huge loss of life.
