October 6th - October 1st, 1940

 

Sunday,  October 6th : London and SE England were lightly attacked. Low-flying fighter bombers attacked Biggin Hill airfield and destroyed three barrack blocks.
Night: Slight activity over London.

 

Monday, October 7th : An aircraft factory at Yeovil was bombed 
Night: London, Merseyside and Firth of Forth were bombed. Hatfield, Ford, Tangmere and Lee-on-Solent and Eastleigh airfields were hit.

 

Tuesday, October 8th : Persistent bombing attacks on London.
Night: London was bombed.

 

Wednesday, October 9th : South-eastern airfields and London were hit.
Night: London was heavily bombed.

 

Thursday, October 10th : South-eastern airfields, Weymouth and London were attacked by incessant raids of fighter-bombers and bombers.
Night: London, Merseyside, Manchester and airfields were attacked.

 

Friday, October 11th : Southend, Kenley and Biggin Hill airfields were attacked. Folkestone, Weymouth, Canterbury and Deal were bombed.
Night: London, Teeside, Tyneside, Merseyside and Manchester were bombed.

 

Saturday, October 12th : London was attacked.
Night: London was bombed.

 

Sunday, October 13th : Fighter-bomber raid on London.
Night: Dundee, Bristol, Merseyside, wales and London were attacked.

 

Monday, October 14th : Light raids over Midlands and south-east England.
Night: Full moon night. London was badly hit by Bf 110's. Waterloo Station was badly damaged, underground lines, power stations, gasworks and roads were hit. Over 900 fires started.

 

Tuesday, October 15th : Fighter-bomber attacks on London and Kent.
Night: Heavy bombing of London and Birmingham

 

Wednesday, October 16th : Weather prevented everything except sporadic single sorties over SE England. 
Night: Light attacks on London.

 

Thursday, October 17th : Fighter-bombers attacked London and Fighter Command HQ at Stanmore. Seaside towns of Margate and Broadstairs were bombed.
Night: South-east England was attacked.

 

Friday, October 18th : Widespread small-scale raids day and night.

 

Saturday, October 19th : Little activity.
Night: Weak attacks on London, Merseyside and Bristol.

 

Sunday, October 20th : Fighter-bombers hit London and Kent.
Night: Coventry and London were badly hit

 

Monday, October 21st : London, west England and Merseyside were raided.
Night: London, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Liverpool and Birmingham were bombed. South coast radar stations were attacked.

 

Tuesday, October 22nd : Two convoys off Dover and one in Thames Estuary unsuccessfully attacked.
Night: Light attacks on Birmingham and London.

 

Wednesday, October 23rd : Nuisance raids on Tangmere and Biggin Hill airfields, London, Harwich, Southampton and Cromer.
Night: Glasgow and London were bombed.

 

Thursday, October 24th : Sporadic intrusions over south and central England.
Night: Light attacks on Birmingham and London.

 

Friday, October 25th : London and south-east England were hit by bombs jettisoned or dropped from high altitude.
Night: Harwich was raided by Regia Aeronautica (Italian air force).

 

Saturday, October 26th : Frequent fighter-bomber attacks on south-east England, London and a Channel convoy.
Night: Merseyside, Manchester and London were bombed.

 

Sunday, October 27th : Fighter and fighter-bomber sweeps of. Up to 50 strong attacked London and Thames Estuary in the morning. In the late afternoon London, Southampton and an airfield at Martlesham Heath were attacked.
Night: London, Bristol and Liverpool were bombed. Several airfields were strafed.

 

Monday, October 28th : London was bombed,.and convoys in Thames were attacked.
Night: London, Merseyside and Midlands were raided.

 

Tuesday, October 29th : Last great German effort of the Battle. A raid heading for London was engaged at 11.00am. The second raid was intercepted by 602 Squadron. and 12 fighter-bombers were shot down. Three raids totalling 112 fighter-bombers attacked Portsmouth. Italians, using obselete aircraft, bombed Ramsgate.
Night: London and central England were heavily bombed.

 

Wednesday, October 30th : 80 bombers appeared over Thames Estuary, followed 15 minutes later by another 100. Six RAF squadrons intercepted them. In the afternoon 130 enemy planes approached the south coast but only a few got through to London. Bad weather hampered both defenders and attackers.
Night: Scattered small raids.

 

Thursday, October 31st : Weak effort by fighter-bombers against London and Kent.
Night: Weak bomber effort.
